BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The IU cross country teams kick off the 2010 season with the Indiana Open on Saturday. The meet will be a tune-up for the Hoosiers as they prepare for the rest of the season. The meet is slated for a 9:30 a.m. ET start. The meet is Indiana's only home contest of the season. In 2009, Zach Mayhew took the win at the Indiana Open, en route to Big Ten Runner of the Week honors.

The Hoosiers return a women's team that advanced to the NCAA Championships in 2009, led by All-Big Ten honoree Sarah Pease and All-Region honoree Chelsea Blanchard. Pease earned All-America honors last outdoor season in the 3,000m steeplechase.

The men's team returns 2009 NCAA qualifier Andrew Poore. Poore and Mayhew each earned All-Big Ten and All-Region honors. In total, the Hoosiers return five men that have earned All-America honors in track and field.

Next on the schedule for the Hoosiers is the Indiana Intercollegiate in West Lafayette, Ind. The Hoosiers will look to win the men's and women's titles for the second-straight season. The Hoosiers won handily in 2009, led by a Big Ten Runner of the Week performance by Andrew Poore.
