    The IU cross country program opens its 2009 campaign with the Indiana Open on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009. The meet will begin at 9:30 a.m. ET, when the women’s 5k race begins, and the men’s 8k will begin at 10 a.m. In addition to the Hoosiers, runners from several schools will be in attendance, including Ball State and Akron. For those unable to attend the meet, live updates will be available via Twitter.

    RECAPPING THE 2008 SEASON
    Junior Wendi Robinson became the Hoosiers’ seventh All-American in women’s cross country at the 2008 NCAA Cross Country Championships on the campus of Indiana State. The meet played host to 252 entrants in the women’s race, and Robinson finished the 6K course in 20:34.1 for 28th place. Robinson finished just 10.2 seconds out of the top 15. Robinson’s All-America honors are the seventh in IU history. She is the first since Jessica Gall took the honors in 2004 and 2005.

    Robinson finished in eighth place with a time of 20:55.1 in the Big Ten Women’s Cross Country Championships at the University of Michigan Golf Course in Ann Arbor. The Hoosiers finished eighth as a team with 180 points in the 6K race. Robinson earned second team All-Big Ten honors with her finish.

    Senior Timothy McLeod crossed the finish line in eighth place with a time of 24:51.4 as the Indiana men’s cross country team finished fifth as a team with 135 points in the 2008 Big Ten Cross Country Championships at the University of Michigan Golf Course in Ann Arbor. McLeod earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors with his finish.

    The Indiana men’s cross country team finished fifth at the NCAA Great Lakes Region Championships with a team score of 169 points in the 10K race at the Varsity Cross Country Course in West Lafayette, Ind.

    Senior Timothy McLeod led the men’s team with a time of 32:03.4 to finish in 22nd. Redshirt senior Brennon Plotner finished in 23rd place with a time of 32:04.8. Redshirt freshman De’Sean Turner crossed the finish line in 32:14.5 to take 32nd place. Sophomore Cole Hardacre placed 41st with a time of 32:26.4, while classmate Ben Hubers wrapped up the Hoosier top-five with a time of 32:34.8 for 51st place.
