Throughout the 2007-08 season, IUHOOSIERS.com will sit down and get to know the Indiana men's cross country team with a series of question and answer sessions called "Setting the Pace". Freshman Ben Hubers is next on the list.

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I would go to Europe for a year just to see the sights, soak in the culture, and run.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I have no idea, but I want to be running professionally.

Finish this sentence - Since coming to Indiana, I've learned:
how to rely on myself and become independent.

What do you like best about Coach Helmer?
He never yells. He always keeps his cool no matter what you throw at him. On top of that he knows what he's doing. He knows how to make people run fast and that's why I came here.

Something that many people don't know about you is:
I can ride the unicycle ... I'm Canadian ... I love egg nog.

The teammate I most admire is who, and why?
I most admire Timothy McLeod. He knows what he has to do to get better and he does it no matter what other people say. I want to be like that.

Name one thing that you wish you were better at?
I wish I were better at unicycling. I just watched a video of a bunch of street unicycling and it was about the coolest thing I've ever seen.

What makes Indiana special from any other program?
I believe that we have more potential than any other team out there. We have a group of guys that is dedicated to doing what we need to do to win National Championships. That's why I'm here.

My favorite thing about Bloomington is:
How compact it is. I don't have a 40-minute walk to class. I also love how close all my training facilities are. It's just a friendly place in general.

What are your goals for this year?
I hadn't really thought about it. I want to break four minutes in the mile outdoor. I want to be in the top five on the team throughout cross country season. I want us to make NCAAs this year in cross country.
