Indiana Finishes Sixth at Big Ten Championships

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Led once again by another strong performance by senior All-American Sean Jefferson, IU took sixth place at the Big Ten Championships on Oct. 30 in Minneapolis, Minn. Overall, IU recorded 137 points, while Wisconsin claimed its seventh consecutive team title with a Big Ten Championships record 16 points. Simon Bairu of Wisconsin won first place honors, finishing the 8k course in 23:31.
Jefferson finished fifth overall in 24:13. That effort broke up a top-eight sweep by Wisconsin as the Badgers boasted seven of the first eight finishers.
Senior Stephen Haas also ran strong for the Hoosiers with an 11th-place finish in 24:43. Meanwhile, senior Charlie Koeppen (35th - 25:33), senior Eric Redman (41st - 25:43), junior Marcus Aguilar (45th - 25:53) and freshman Brian Sullivan (48th - 25:56) closed out IU's effort at the league meet.
Indiana has a two-week break to prepare for the NCAA Great Lake Regional, which will be held in Bloomington, Ind., on Saturday, Nov. 12.
