    HOOSIERS HEAD TO GREAT LAKES REGIONAL
    Indiana heads to the Great Lakes Regional on Saturday, Nov. 11, hosted by Bowling Green State on the Forrest Creason Golf Course in Bowling Green, Ohio. Top qualifying teams and individuals will advance to the 2006 NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 20. Last season, the Hoosiers finished sixth at the regional meet, which was held on the IU Cross Country Course in Bloomington. Former Hoosier Sean Jefferson led the way for Indiana when he finished third overall with a time of 31:07.9 in the 10K. Senior Marcus Aguilar, the only current Hoosier with regional meet experience, placed 44th overall and fourth for Indiana with a time of 32:33.8.

    McLEOD LEADS INDIANA AT BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS
    Indiana placed three runners in the top 25 and put together a team score of 151 to finish sixth at the Big Ten Championships at the IU Cross Country Championship Course on Sunday, Oct. 29. Sophomore Timothy McLeod led the way for the Hoosiers, finishing 12th overall with a time of 24:46 on the 8,000-meter course. The Tucson, Ariz., native earned All-Big Ten Second Team recognition while competing in his first Big Ten Championships. Redshirt freshman Jordan Kyle finished second for the Hoosiers, taking 16th place overall in a time of 24:57. Redshirt sophomore Mark Fruin was Indiana's third finisher, as he posted a time of 25:17 for 25th place overall. Senior Marcus Aguilar finished 50th overall, turning in a time of 25:57.

    McLEOD EARNS BIG TEN SPORTSMANSHIP HONOR
    Sophomore Timothy McLeod earned Big Ten Sportsmanship honors for cross country, which was announced by the league on Nov. 2. McLeod, one of 21 cross country student-athletes that were honored by the Big Ten, is now a candidate for the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award, as the conference office will honor one male and one female student-athlete from each institution at the end of the school year. McLeod placed 12th in the 8K at Big Ten Championships with a time of 24:46 and earned second team All-Big Ten honors. He paced the Hoosiers to a sixth place finish in the meet, and his time is the fifth-best time on the IU Cross Country Course.

    McLEOD AND KYLE RUN THERE WAY ONTO IU'S COURSE ALL-TIME LIST
    At Big Ten Championships on Oct. 29, sophomore Timothy McLeod and redshirt freshman Jordan Kyle made their way onto the IU Course All-Time 8K list. McLeod's 12th-place time of 24:46 was the fifth-fastest time on the IU Course, while Kyle ran the seventh-fastest time on the course in 24:57 for 16th place at the annual league championship.

    WHAT'S UP NEXT
    Following the Hoosiers trip to Bowling Green, Ohio, for the Great Lakes Regional Championships, IU will head to the 2006 NCAA Championships held in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 20.

    QUALIFYING FOR NCAA'S
    Collegiate teams automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships based on their team finishes in their regional held Saturday, Nov. 11. The top two men's and women's teams from each of the nation's nine regions and top four individuals from non-qualifying teams in each regional automatically advance to the NCAA Championships, scheduled for Monday, Nov. 21, in Terre Haute, Ind., at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course. Besides the automatic qualifiers, another 13 at-large teams and two at-large individuals will be added to the 31-team, 255-runner men's and women's fields on the evening of Sunday, Nov. 12, by the NCAA Championships selection committee. At-large team selection criteria (in order of priority) is based on teams' regional placings, number of wins against fellow NCAA team qualifiers, head-to-head records against other potential NCAA qualifiers, and records against common opponents.
