CHORNY FINISHES TWENTY-SEVENTH AT NCAA cc CHAMPIONSHIPS

Bloomington, Ind- Tom Chorny finished his career at Indiana on a high note. Chorny became the first cc All-American for the Hoosiers since Bob Kennedy in 1992.
Chorny, a senior from Fruitport, Michigan, finished 27th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships held at the IU cc Course Monday afternoon. He completed the race in 31:08.3 which was one minute off the winning time.

Chorny finished first for IU five times this season in meets and earned an automatic individual bid after finishing fifth overall at the Great Lakes Regional.

"I knew that I had to do something different if I was going to do well in this race," said Chorny. He was in second place through the first 5K until falling back.

"It is all mental when someone passes you. I knew that I just had to try to hold on because eventually the pack would be taking off and sure enough they did".

"Having my teammates, family and people from the community cheering me on really helped me to do well. I was getting a little emotional in the race. I am very proud to have worn an Indiana University uniform during my career here," commented Chorny.
