BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Athletics has announced the Scholar-Athletes of the Month for December - Simone Deloach (Jr., Women's Basketball) and Kyle Kennedy (RS-Fr., Football).
Deloach, a native of Round Rock, Texas, is averaging 4.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game through 16 games for the Hoosiers. She's shooting 51.0 percent (26-of-51) from the field on the season. Deloach is majoring in Human Development and Family Studies.
"After a rocky start to the semester, Simone achieved her highest GPA of her IU career this fall," said Lorian Price, IU Academic Advisor. "She also emerged as a big contributor for her team on the basketball court, and spent her free time mentoring elementary students who struggle in school. The fall 2012 semester was a semester of fortitude and growth for Simone, not only as a student-athlete, but as a young adult."
Kennedy, a native of Indianapolis, played in six games at linebacker and on special teams. He recorded three tackles and was an Academic All-Big Ten selection. Kennedy is majoring in Psychology.
"Kyle is one of the most determined people I know and he refuses to settle for less than his best in everything he does," said Dustin Swanson, IU Academic Advisor. "Kyle has the potential to achieve great things here at IU and beyond."
