BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Athletics honored 24 student-athletes who earned a 4.0 grade point average during the Fall 2012 semester on Monday, Feb. 18. Eight of the 24 honorees earned a 4.0 GPA for the Fall 2012 semester, as well as the Spring 2012 semester.
Benefactors, Steve and Kathy Shuel, have generously committed to providing this opportunity each semester to celebrate the exemplary academic accomplishments of the student-athletes. The group of honorees were joined by the Shuels, campus officials, athletic administrators, coaches and academic advisors to recognize their outstanding efforts.
"These student-athletes have earned perfection in the classroom while also putting forth significant time and energy to their sport," said Steve Shuel. "It is quite an achievement, and Kathy and I are thrilled to play a role in honoring them."
"We are extraordinarily proud of the 24 student-athletes who earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average last semester. Their tremendous achievements bring honor and distinction to IU Athletics," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Fred Glass. "It is important that these accomplishments are celebrated, and I want to thank all of those who were involved in making the inaugural Academic Excellence Dinner a great success, especially its originators and founders, Steve and Kathy Shuel".
