BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Athletics has announced the Scholar-Athletes of the Month for October - Erin Pannek (Fr., Water Polo) and Alex Todd (Fr., Football).
Pannek is a first semester freshman from El Cajon, Calif. In high school, she was a four year letter winner in water polo and a 2010 Junior Olympic All-American.
"Erin was a direct admit to the Kelley School of Business where she intends to study Entrepreneurship," said IU Academic Advisor John Sare. "As a business student, She is pledging the Alpha Kappa Psi professional fraternity. She is on track to complete her undergraduate work in three years and do her graduate study within the four year window of her athletic eligibility."
Todd is a freshman from Streetsboro, Ohio. The defensive lineman posted 30 tackles with two tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one interception his senior season at Streetsboro High School, and was a first team All-County Division and third team All-Division III All-Ohio as a junior.
"Alex is a freshman, but his silky smooth transition to college and work ethic would have you fooled," said Dustin Swanson, IU Academic Advisor. "This blue-collar gentleman packs his lunch pail and comes to work every day. He closed the book on any doubt as soon as he arrived this summer and he has already found the perfect balance between his academic and athletic responsibilities. He made a challenging fall schedule his girl and she has been treating him good ever since. Alex never complains and he uses all of his resources to maximize his potential. This dude is going to make a lot of people proud and surpass a lot of expectations."
