Langert Named IU Scholar-Athlete Of The Week
October 6, 2006
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - On a weekly basis, IUHOOSIERS.com will recognize top academic performances by Hoosier student-athletes with the IU Scholar-Athlete of the Week award. For the week ending Oct. 2, sophomore volleyball player Jessica Langert earned the honor as selected by IU Athletics' Academic Services.
"I am extremely pleased that Jess has earned this honor," Indiana head volleyball coach Katie Weismiller said. "There is probably no one who puts in more extra effort on the court than Jess, and I am not surprised that she is doing that in the classroom as well."
Langert, a defensive specialist from Downers Grove, Ill., is majoring in Exercise Science and plans to become a physical therapist.
According to academic advisor Kimya Massey, Langert is well on her way to a successful career at IU. "Jessica has many inherent traits that bode well for future successes in all aspects of her life," he said. "She is hard-working, diligent and extremely pro-active when it comes to her academics and preparing herself for the future. I have no doubt she will be successful in whatever endeavors she embarks on."
