Jose Mori enters his fifth season at Indiana University and his second as the Associate Head Coach.
Since joining the Hoosiers staff, Mori has been apart of 62 wins, after serving as the program's recruiting coordinator for his first three years on staff. He was a major contributor to bringing in IU's 2011 No. 23-nationally ranked recruiting class according to the All Star Girls Report. His on-court duties have included skill development of the guards and was instrumental in the development of Jori Davis and Jamie Braun, who each were two-time Second Team All-Big Ten honorees.
Mori is also a member of the WBCA board of directors where he is very active in growing the sport of women's basketball.
Prior to joining the Hoosiers, Mori spent three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Florida. His on-court duties for the Gators included the development of the wing players. In 2005-06, the Gators appeared in the NCAA tournament and beat then then-No. 2 LSU and No. 5 Tennessee within a span of 11 days. The 2004-05 recruiting class was ranked No. 7 by Blue Star Girls Report.
The 2000 graduate of Penn State and native of State College, Pa., spent two seasons as an assistant coach under Legette-Jack at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y., before being promoted to assistant head coach by Legette-Jack on April 23, 2004. He was the top assistant on staff during the 2003-04 season, when the team recorded 14 wins, which were the most since the 1993-94 season.
Mori began his collegiate coaching career in August 2000, when he was an assistant coach at the University of Richmond. During his two years with the Spiders, he was involved with recruiting and oversaw the development of the guards and forwards. Richmond finished second in the Atlantic 10 West Division in 2002 after being picked to finish seventh in the preseason poll.
He is married to the former Christine Portland, who was a four-year basketball letter winner at Penn State. Christine is the daughter of legendary coach Rene Portland. The Mori's are proud parents of four daughters, Mackenzie, Mallory, and twins Macy and Maya.
