    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's basketball team struggled offensively on the road and fell to No. 13/13 Penn State at the Bryce Jordan Center on Wednesday night, 65-52.

    Penn State (14-4, 5-1) set the tone early with an 11-2 run in the game's first 6:05. Indiana (15-4, 2-4) later responded thanks to back-to-back 3-point field goals from Tabitha Gerardot and Larryn Brooks to cut the PSU lead to 13-12 with 10:08 remaining.

    The Lady Lions fired back with 10 straight points to increase their lead to 23-12. Another Gerardot trey silenced that run. Sasha Chaplin followed with a field goal and Brooks then hit a jumper to polish off a 7-0 Indiana run to cut the lead to four, 23-19, with 6:01 remaining.

    Indiana would go on to trail 31-24 at the halftime break.

    A Gerardot jumper for Indiana at the 18:23 mark made it a 37-29 Penn State lead. The Hoosiers then went 9:01 without hitting a field goal and the Lady Lions went on a 15-2 during that stretch to extend their lead to 52-31.

    Brooks stopped the bleeding with a runner in the lane at the at the 9:22 mark. Gerardot followed with a free throw and Nicole Bell 3-point field goal made it a 52-37 score. But the damage was done as PSU held on for the home win.

    The Hoosiers shot just 27.6 percent for the game. IU did hold PSU to under 40 percent from the field and forced 21 Lady Lion turnovers.

    Gerardot led Indiana with 12 points as Larryn Brooks added 11 points and Lyndsay Leikem chipped in eight.

    The Hoosiers will hit the road for Iowa on Saturday, Jan. 25. That game will tip at 7 p.m. ET.
