IU Head Coach Felisha Legette-Jack
"Well, adversity happens with all teams. You've got to play the game and sometimes you got to lose, you don't want to lose but sometimes you do lose. What great teams do, they figure out what they do to create that and they come back more aggressive in practice. Our two practices prior to this game were tremendous. Not because the coaches did anything different, these young ladies and their teammates decided to take a step up, to understand that we don't want to learn lessons through defeat. What great teams understand is that just because you are down it doesn't mean you have to stay down and they fought their way back on the backstretch."
On Ashlee Mells helping with the 15-0 run in the first half:
"We needed energy. We needed some kind of energy. We didn't want anything. We didn't need someone with a higher IQ on the basketball court. We just needed someone with no fear who was going to attack the gaps and let the chips fall where they may. (Ashlee) really brought that energy for these guys to feed off of in the second half. And we were able to sustain that what she seized was tremendous. And Whitney (Lindsay) - when Whitney came off the bench - that really ignited us as well. So, everybody knows their roles and accepts their roles, and one thing about this team we only care about the `W' at the end of the game."
Sophomore guard Jori Davis
"One thing about the game is that we weren't 100% focused we needed a game plan. When we got in the huddle and focused on their number shooters and we got in their faces, that helped our game plan."
Senior forward Amber Jackson
Penn State Head Coach Coquese Washington
"We have a goal to get to the NCAA tournament and all the seniors are dedicated to that goal and we know it's one game at a time. So after losing to Illinois, we knew we were going to have to come back and really focus and realize that we have to come back against Penn State and start a new winning streak from here and we were just focused on beating Penn State."
"I thought we were aggressive early on, especially in transition and we were aggressive on the boards, I thought late in the game, in the second half. Our turnovers were a big factor and I thought that Indiana, in particular Amber Jackson
, did a great job of getting some easy baskets from them."
On how the team's tempo changed in the second half:
"I wouldn't say our team lost our composure. I think that throughout the second half we were just killing ourselves, and shooting ourselves in the foot with turnovers and that's a frustrating thing to go through when you're trying to have a comeback game. So I think it was more frustration with ourselves that we weren't executing as well offensively as we would have liked."
