    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's basketball pulled off an upset of No. 18 Ohio State in overtime, 69-61, behind four Hoosiers scoring in double-figures on Monday, Feb. 25 in Assembly Hall.

    Jamie Braun led all players with 19 points, while Kim Roberson netted 15 points, Whitney Thomas added 14 and Jori Davis scored 11 points.

    A 9-0 Hoosier (16-12, 9-7 Big Ten) run that began at the 12:50 mark gave Indiana an 18-11 lead at the 8:56 mark in the first half. The Buckeyes (20-7, 11-5 Big Ten) answered on a three-point play by Tamarah Riley with 8:26 to go in the half. A layup by Jantel Lavender cut IU's lead to four, 18-16, but the Hoosiers had an answer as Roberson put in a layup to increase Indiana's lead back to four, 20-16, with 6:51 on the clock. A jumper by Thomas at the 5:28 mark added two more to the IU lead, but Ohio State recovered and used a 6-0 run to knot the score at 22-22, with 3:02 remaining in the half. A pair of free throws by Thomas at the 2:43 mark regained a two-point lead for the Hoosiers. However, Ohio State held a 4-1 advantage in the final 2:20 of the half to take a 26-25 lead into the break.

    The Buckeyes came out firing in the second half as Riley sank a layup at the 19:19 mark to increase OSU's lead back to two, 28-25. That layup ignited a 10-2 Ohio State run that gave the Buckeyes their largest lead of the game, 36-27, with 17:14 remaining in the second stanza. A jumper by Roberson and a pair of free throws from Thomas brought Indiana within five, 36-31, with 15:35 to go, but another 9-2 Ohio State run increased the Buckeyes lead to 12, 45-33, at the 13:04 mark. A layup from Roberson sparked a 7-0 Indiana run that brought the Hoosiers back within five, 45-40. Ohio State answered again using the free throw line to its advantage and increasing the lead back to eight, 50-42, with 8:09 remaining. Following a layup by Andrea Walker, the Hoosiers put together a 12-4 run to close out regulation with the score tied, 54-54.

     

     

    The Buckeyes struck first in OT as Marscilla Packer put her team ahead by two with a pair of free throws at the 4:28 mark. However this time, IU answered with a jumper by Thomas and a layup from Roberson to give the Hoosiers a two-point advantage, 58-56, with 3:25 to go. A 3-pointer by Packer regained an edge for OSU, but the Hoosiers maintained their composer and outscored their foe, 9-2, in the final 2:40 for the 69-61 win.

    Braun sank 7-of-15 from the field and 4-of-5 from the free throw line. She added eight rebounds in the effort. Roberson and Thomas grabbed nine boards apiece, while Thomas shot a perfect 6-of-6 from free throw line.

    Riley led Ohio State with 15 points and 16 boards, while Packer scored 14 and Lavender added 10 in the effort.

    The Buckeyes outscored the Hoosiers 40.3 (25-of-62) to 36.5 percent (23-of-63) from the field and won the battle of the boards, 43-38. However, Indiana scored 21 points off of 20 Ohio State turnovers.

    Indiana returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 28 when they travel to Minneapolis to take on Minnesota at 8 p.m. ET.
