Indiana Falls at Iowa, 76-64

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Four Hoosiers reached double-digit points behind a team-best 14 points from senior Jamie Braun, but it wasn't enough as the Indiana women's basketball team fell at Iowa, 76-64.
Braun also tallied six rebounds, five assists and three steals in 39 minutes. Juniors Jori Davis and Whitney Lindsay each tallied 12 points apiece. Davis recorded six rebounds, two assist and one steal, while Lindsay registered four rebounds, four assists and one steal. Redshirt freshman Sasha Chaplin recorded 11 points, seven rebounds, one steal and one blocked shot in the effort. Davis is now 11 points away from reaching 1,000 points in her career at Indiana.
The Hawkeyes (16-12, 9-8) jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the first minute of the game, but a 10-2 run by the Hoosiers (13-15, 6-11) gave IU a 12-7 lead with 13:14 on the clock. Iowa answered with a 23-5 run to take a 30-17 lead with 3:56 to play in the half. Indiana never faded and outscored the Hawkeyes, 9-2, in the final 2:51 of the first stanza to head into the break down, 32-26.
Iowa opened the second half on a 14-4 run to take a 46-30 lead over the Hoosiers with 14:30 left to play. However, the Hoosiers answered with a 24-11 run that was sparked by a layup and pair of free throws from Chaplin to come within three, 57-54, with 6:37 to go. But the Hawkeyes outscored the Hoosiers, 19-10, in the final six minutes for the 76-64 win.
The Hoosiers shot 30.3 percent (20-66) from the field and 79.2 percent (19-24) from the free throw line. Iowa sank 45.0 percent (27-60) from the field and 93.8 percent (15-16) from the line on the game. The Hawkeyes outrebounded IU, 46-37, but the Hoosiers won the battle on the offensive glass, 19-16. Indiana only committed eight turnovers on the game and tallied eight steals off of 16 Iowa miscues. The Hoosiers also recorded 20 points off of the Hawkeyes' turnovers.
Indiana returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 28, when it hosts Penn State in its regular season finale at 4 p.m. ET in Assembly Hall. Sunday's game will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network, as IU will celebrate Senior Day and National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
