BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's basketball team jumped ahead early and never looked back to cruise to a 77-34 win in its exhibition opener over Kentucky State on Tuesday night. Three Hoosiers scored in double-figures with Aulani Sinclair leading the way with 15 points, as Quaneisha McCurty scored 13 and Sasha Chaplin added 11.

Indiana freshman point guard Nicole Bell started things by scoring the first five points of the game for the Hoosiers with a jumper and 3-point field goal to put IU in front, 5-1. McCurty later connected on a field goal to make it a 7-1 Hoosier advantage with 15:33 remaining in the half.

After a pair of free throws by KSU, IU strung together a 14-2 run which was capped by Milika Taufa finding a wide-open Linda Rubene cutting across the lane for a layup and followed by a pair of free throws from Simone Deloach to give Indiana a 21-5 lead with 9:22 on the clock.

Indiana pushed its lead to 31-8 after Bell drove to the lane and kicked the ball out to Sinclair who connected from beyond the arc at the 3:48 mark. McCurty followed that with a lay in on IU's next possession to push the advantage to 33-8.

Just before the break, Bell grabbed a defensive rebound and pushed the ball the length of the floor to find McCurty for a jumper at the horn to give IU a 41-9 advantage heading into the locker room. The Hoosiers held KSU to just 8 percent (2-for-25) shooting in the first half and forced 12 turnovers.

Indiana's continued to dominate in the second half. As KSU tried to make it a respective margin, Taufa closed the door on that idea with a put-back layup before the Hoosier offense executed a play to perfection to find Chaplin for an easy lay in to lead 56-23 with 8:15 to play.

Later in the half, the 6-6 McCurty made a great defensive play stealing an errant pass and dribbling the ball coast-to-coast for a field goal at the 5:42 mark as IU led, 62-28. On the following Hoosier possession, Sinclair nailed a 3-pointer with two defenders trying to disrupt her to stretch the lead to 65-28. Rubene would later cap an 11-0 outburst for Indiana with a pair of free throws to make it a 70-28 margin with 3:41 to play.

Indiana would cruise in the final minutes to take the exhibition win. To go along with her 13 points, McCurty grabbed seven boards and shot 5-of-11 from the field. Sinclair was 3-of-7 from beyond the arc and had five rebounds. Bell added nine points for the home team as walk-on freshman Brionna Arnold scored eight to go along with two steals. Simone Deloach was the team leader in rebounds with nine for the night.

As a team, IU outrebounded Kentucky State, 55-50, and committed just seven turnovers while forcing 22 KSU mistakes.

The Hoosiers will return to the court on Friday, Nov. 9, for the regular season opener at Valparaiso. That game is set to tip at 6 p.m. ET.
