    CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Four Hoosiers scored in double-digits as the Indiana women's basketball team stayed undefeated and beat Wright State, 73-52, in the opening game of the Miami Thanksgiving Tournament on Friday, Nov. 24, at the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, Fla.

    Junior Nikki Smith led all players with a career-high 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field and 5-of-6 from the three-point line. Freshman Jamie Braun added 16 points, senior Leah Enterline scored 12 points and senior Sarah McKay added 10 points and four blocked shots in the win.

    The Hoosiers (5-0) jumped out to a 25-13 lead by way of 12 points from Nikki Smith with in the first 10 minutes of the first half. The Raiders (0-3) put together an 11-4 run, cutting IU's lead to eight, 32-24, but a 7-0 Hoosier run in the final 4:20 of the half sent the two teams into the locker room with Indiana leading, 39-24.

    Wright State was the first team to get on the board in the second half with a pair of free throws by Sierra Crayton, cutting the Hoosiers' lead to 39-25. The Raiders outscored the Hoosiers, 11-9, in the first eight minutes, decreasing the deficit to 13 points, 48-35. However, Indiana put together a 15-9 run to take a 66-44 lead with 3:17 to go. The Hoosiers went on to hold at least an 18-point lead en route to the 73-52 win.

    Indiana shot 48.3 percent (28-of-58) from the floor, including 66.7 percent (10-of-15) from beyond the arc and 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from the free throw line. The Hoosiers won the battle of the boards, 37-29, and forced the Raiders into committing 23 turnovers. IU held Wright State to 38.8 percent (19-of-49) shooting from the floor and 35.7 percent (5-of-14) from beyond the arc.

     

     

    Braun was 5-of-10 from the field and 3-of-5 from the three-point line for her 16 points. Enterline shot 5-of-7 from the floor including a three-pointer, and 1-of-2 from the line for her 12 points. McKay was 4-of-7 from the field and 2-of-4 from the charity stripe for 10 points. Freshman Michelle Carr led IU with seven rebounds, while sophomore Kim Roberson tallied a game-high six assists.

    Whitney Lewis led Wright State with 11 points while Brittney Whiteside and Tyanda Hammock each added seven rebounds in the effort.
