    Braun and Davis Lead Indiana to 72-61 Win Over Charlotte

    FREEPORT, Grand Bahama Island - Senior Jamie Braun and junior Jori Davis combined for 45 points as they led the Indiana women's basketball team to a 72-61 win over Charlotte in the consolation game of the Junkanoo Jam in Freeport, Bahamas. The Hoosiers (4-2) finished in third place in the Thanksgiving holiday tournament.

    Braun sank 6-of-9 from the field, 5-of-7 from the 3-point line and 7-of-8 from the stripe for 24 points. She added seven rebounds, four on the offensive end, and three assists in 36 minutes off the bench. Davis netted 9-of-17 from the field and 3-of-5 from the free throw line for 21 points, and tallied a team-high eight rebounds and four steals in 36 minutes. On the tournament, Davis totaled 54 points, 15 rebounds and eight steals to earn all-tournament honors.

    The Hoosiers and 49ers (1-5) kept the score tight in the first half, sharing the lead three times before a 3-pointer from Braun at the 10:19 mark sparked a 14-5 run that gave Indiana a 23-16 lead with 6:37 left to play. Charlotte fought back outscoring the Hoosiers, 10-4, in the final six minutes to come within three, 29-23, at the break.

    Sophomore Sasha Chaplin got the Hoosiers on the board first in the second half with a pair of free throws at the 19:33 mark, igniting an 18-9 run that gave Indiana a 47-35 lead with 10:52 on the clock. IU kept building on its lead, taking a 17-point edge at the 4:52 mark before Charlotte put together a 15-7 run to cut the Hoosiers' lead to nine, 67-58, with 44 seconds left in the game. However, Indiana used a pair of free throws from Braun to keep the double-digit advantage en route to the 72-61 victory.

    Chaplin also netted double-digits for Indiana with 11 points to go along with four boards, two assists and one steal. The Hoosiers shot 44.0 percent (11-of-29) from the field on the game and 46.2 percent (6-of-13) from beyond the arc. IU only committed 10 turnovers and tallied 12 steals off of 17 Charlotte miscues. Indiana also recorded 14 assists and outscored the 49ers bench, 33-26.

    Indiana returns to action on Thursday, Dec. 3, when they host No. 9 Florida State in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on the Big Ten Network in Assembly Hall.
