    Hoosiers Dominate Hurricanes for 69-54 Win in ACC/Big Ten Challenge

    CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Three Hoosiers (5-2) netted double-digit points as the Indiana women's basketball team defeated Miami, 69-54, on Friday, Dec. 5 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in Coral Gables.

    Senior Amber Jackson recorded her sixth career double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Kim Roberson added 15 points, while junior Jamie Braun scored 10 points in the win.

    The Hurricanes (5-3) and Hoosiers traded the lead for the first five minutes until a LaToya Cunningham sank a 3-pointer at the 15:01 mark to give UM an 8-5 lead. Jackson answered with a layup to put IU within one, 8-7, but back-to-back jumpers by Miami increased the home team's lead to five, 12-7, with 11:53 on the clock. Freshman Sasha Chaplin netted a jumper at the 11:33 mark and Roberson followed that with a layup to bring the Hoosiers back within one, 12-11, with 11:01 to go in the half. However, Miami responded with a 12-4 run to take a 24-15 lead with 6:30 on the clock. The Hoosiers answered, outscoring the Hurricanes, 12-8 for the remainder of the half, but both teams went into the break with Miami leading 32-28.

    The Hurricanes scored first in the second half on a 3-pointer by Damisha Moore at the 19:33 mark, but Indiana fought back using an 8-0 run sparked by a jumper from Jackson at the 19:03 mark to take a one-point lead, 36-35, with 16:26 remaining in the game. With 15:47 on the clock, Cunningham sank one of two free throws to knot the game at 36-36, but the Hoosiers came back with an 8-0 run to take a 44-36 lead with 13:06 to go. UM's Diane Barnes sank a pair of free throws at the 11:30 mark, while Shenise Johnson made put of two and Riquna Williams netted a layup to bring the Hurricanes back with three, 44-41, with 10:27 remaining in the game. But Indiana answered again as Davis put in a layup to ignite a 14-0 IU run to put the Hoosiers up by 18, 60-42, with 4:08 left in the game. A 3-pointer by Williams ended the Hoosier run, but Indiana dominated the remainder of the half for the 69-54 win.



    Indiana won the battle of the boards, 50-39, and forced UM into committing 15 turnovers on the game. IU shot 38.5 percent (25-of-65) from the floor, and held Miami to 32.8 percent (21-of-64) shooting.

    Williams led the Hurricanes with 11 points, and Barnes added 10 points in the effort.

    The Hoosiers return home on Tuesday, Dec. 9 to host in-state rival Butler at 7 p.m. ET in the Assembly Hall. IU's matchup with the Bulldogs will be streamed live on BigTenNetwork.com.
