Indiana and Purdue to Meet In First Round of Big Ten Tournament

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's basketball team will face in-state rival Purdue on Thursday afternoon in the first game of the 2011 Big Ten Tournament at 2 p.m. ET. The game will take place at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and will be aired live on the Big Ten Network. IU is the No. 10 seed as the Boilermakers are seeded seventh.
Purdue won in both meetings this season. The Hoosiers are 2-4 against the Boilermakers all-time when the two teams meet in the Big Ten Tournament. The last time IU defeated Purdue in the tournament was in 2002 in the semifinal game, 55-41. The Hoosiers then went on to win the tournament championship that year over Penn State.
IU is 14-15 all-time in the Big Ten Tournament and has won in its first round game 10 times in 16 tournaments played. Head Coach Felisha Legette-Jack is 3-1 in opening Big Ten Tournament games during her tenure at Indiana.
