Hoosiers Host Second Round WNIT Game Sunday, March 18
March 14, 2007
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's basketball team will host a second round game in the 2007 Postseason Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) on Sunday, March 18. Tip-off against the winner of the Iona-Long Island game, which is scheduled for Thursday, March 16, is set for noon ET.
The Hoosiers (18-13) are 5-3 all-time in the WNIT, reaching the semifinals in the 1998 tournament and, most recently, the quarterfinals in last year's postseason event. Indiana opened the 2006 WNIT with a 67-57 win over Rice in Assembly Hall on March 18, and followed that up with a tough 68-62 road win at Indiana State on March 20. Indiana entered the third round and faced Marquette on March 24, but fell to the Golden Eagles, 57-54.
Prior to Sunday's tip-off, the IU Alumni Association will hold a Big Red Warm-Up for alumni and Hoosier fans. The Warm-Up will occur at the DeVault Alumni Center (directly across the street on the South side of Assembly Hall) and run from 10:30-11:45 a.m.
Tickets to see the Hoosiers in action on Sunday are $6 for adults, $4 for children and $4 for IU students. For more information or to order tickets, call 866-IUSPORTS or visit IUHOOSIERS.com.
