BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's basketball team will begin its second straight postseason appearance when it hosts Iona College on Monday, March 19 in the second round of the 2007 Postseason Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). Tip-off against the Gaels is set for 7 p.m. ET.

The Hoosiers (18-13) are 5-3 all-time in the WNIT, reaching the semifinals in the 1998 tournament and, most recently, the quarterfinals in last year's postseason event. Indiana opened the 2006 WNIT with a 67-57 win over Rice in Assembly Hall on March 18, and followed that up with a tough 68-62 road win at Indiana State on March 20. Indiana entered the third round and faced Marquette on March 24, but fell to the Golden Eagles, 57-54.

IU head coach Felisha Legette-Jack is no stranger to the WNIT either. She led her 2005-06 Hofstra Pride squad to a first round berth in the postseason event. Legette-Jack led the Pride to a 92-65 preliminary win over Stony Brook on March 15, before falling to Villanova, 71-44 on March 18. Last season's trip to the WNIT was Legette-Jack's first as a head coach. In 2002, she helped lead Michigan State to a third round appearance as an assistant coach under Joanne P. McCallie.

Iona College (21-12) opened the first round of the WNIT with a 91-79 win over Long Island on Thursday, March 15, in New Rochelle, NY. Martina Weber scored 27 points to lead Iona on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor and 11-of-12 from the charity stripe. Tiara Headen added 15 points off the bench, while Lauren DeFalco netted 14 and Toni Horvath added 13 in the victory. The Gaels shot 56.9 percent (29-of-51) from the field on the game and won the battle on the boards, 34-21. Iona is averaging 61.6 points and 39.8 rebounds per game on the season.

Monday's meeting between Indiana and Iona marks the first between the two teams.
