    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's basketball team will hit the road as it faces South Dakota State in the third round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) on Thursday, March 22, at 8 p.m. ET in Frost Arena in Brookings, S.D.

    Junior Nikki Smith scored a team-high 18 points to pace four Hoosiers (19-13) in double figures as Indiana beat Iona 74-71 in the second round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) at Assembly Hall on March 19.

    Kim Roberson added 16 points and three steals off the bench. Sarah McKay netted 15 points to go along with three steals and three assists, while Leah Enterline scored 10 points and added six rebounds in the win. Indiana overcame a six-point deficit early in the second half and lost its lead twice in second stanza before holding on for the three-point win.

    The Hoosiers held a 33-31 advantage on the boards and registered 11 steals off of 21 Iona turnovers. Iona shot 55.8 percent (29-of-52) from the floor, while Indiana shot 40.3 percent (25-of-62) from the field on the game.

    The South Dakota State Jackrabbits head into Thursday's game on a 13-game win streak, winning their last seven games at home in Frost Arena. SDSU (24-5) opened the WNIT with a 61-48 second-round win over Illinois State on March 17. The Jackrabbits had two score in double figures as Megan Vogel led the way with 23 points and Andrea Verdegan added 10 in the victory.

    The Jackrabbits shot 40.4 percent (23-of-57) from the field and held a 42-40 advantage over the Redbirds on the boards. SDSU also shot 47.6 percent (10-of-21) from the free-throw line and 29.4 percent (5-of-17) from beyond the arc.

    Thursday's game marks the first meeting between Indiana and South Dakota State. The Hoosiers are 2-3 all-time on the road in WNIT action and 2-1 when competing in their second game of the tournament.
