March 27, 2013
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana women's basketball senior Aulani Sinclair will participate in the State Farm Women's 3-Point Championship in Atlanta, Ga. on April 4. The contest will air live on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday and will take place at McCamish Pavilion on the campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). Sinclair will be one of only eight NCAA Division I women's basketball seniors participating.
Sinclair will be the first Indiana women's basketball player to ever compete in this event and the fifth Hoosier to ever participate as former men's basketball standouts Calbert Cheaney (1993), Brian Evans (1996), A.J. Guyton (2000) and Tom Coverdale (2003) took part in the annual competition.
The ESPN broadcast team will include Brad Nessler, Dan Dakich, Jimmy Dykes and Samantha Ponder as this year marks the 25th annual State Farm College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships.
Sinclair wrapped her Hoosier career as the school's all-time leader in 3-point field goal percentage as she shot 37.3 percent from long distance for her career. During her senior campaign, she set a program record for most 3-point field goals made in a single season with 72. She also sits third all-time at Indiana for career 3-point makes with 183.
The Eminence, Ind., native led the Hoosiers in scoring in 2012-13 with 15.5 points per game and earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten recognition. During her senior campaign, Sinclair scored 30 or more points four times including a career high 34 points against SIU-Edwardsville on Dec. 16, which tied her for the eighth-highest point total in a single game in program history.
Sinclair had two games last season and three total in her career where she hit seven 3-point field goals in a single game, which tied for the third-best mark in IU's single game record book.
Also during 2012-13, she became the 23rd player in program history to tally 1,000 career points and sits 18th on Indiana's all-time career scoring list with 1,142 points.
