Seven Days and Counting to Italy

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's basketball team is just seven days away from traveling to Rome for a 10-day tour of the Italy.
The Hoosiers, who finished the season with a 21-11 for the most wins since the 1997-98 season, will depart from the Indianapolis Airport on Friday, May 15, to begin a nearly nine-hour trip to Rome. Once arriving in Rome on Saturday, the Hoosiers will visit the Colosseum and take a tour of Ancient Rome. After having a day to sightsee around the city, the team will visit Vatican City for tours of the Vatican Museum, St. Peter's Bascilica and the Sistine Chapel. That evening, the Hoosiers will take on Santa Marinella in their first of four games while in Italy. On Tuesday, the team will travel to Florence and have the opportunity to see Michaelangelo's Statue of David, which is located at the Accademia Gallery. The statue is the most famous masterpiece of Florence, which is also home to Brunelleschi's cathedral and Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge in the city, built in 1345.
On Wednesday, the Hoosiers will travel to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa, before heading back to Florence for their second game that evening against ASD Firenze Basket. IU will visit Mestre, Italy on Thursday and travel on the Grand Canal to Piazza San Marco Square in Venice for another sightseeing tour. On Friday, the team will head to Verona to visit Juliet's Balcony and then will travel through Milan to Lake Como, the most famous lake in Italy, located in the Italian Alps. The Hoosiers will spend Friday night at Lake Como and will take part in a clinic for handicapped children in the Como area on Saturday before playing their third game of the trip that night against ASD Baskett Biassano.
The Hoosiers will take a boat tour of Lake Como on Sunday and visit Bellagio before playing their final game of the tour against ASD Geas Basket that evening.
The team will then travel back to Bloomington from Milan on Monday.
