Hoosiers Top Firenze Basket, 88-41

FLORENCE, Italy - Nine Hoosiers got in the scoring column as the Indiana women's basketball team defeated Firenze Basket, 88-41, in its second game on a 10-day tour of Italy. Firenze Basket is a member of the Italian A-2 professional league.
Firenze battled the Hoosiers closely for the much of the first quarter, but a 20-7 run to open the second quarter gave Indiana a big advantage and lead, 43-24, with 2:46 seconds left until the break. With a 23-point lead at halftime, the Hoosiers kept building in the second half while increasing their defensive intensity for the 88-41 win.
Amber Jackson led Indiana with 22 points and she also added seven rebounds. Jori Davis recorded 13 points and eight rebounds. Jamie Braun scored 12 points and tallied four rebounds. Danilsa Andujar collected 10 points and three blocked shots, Whitney Thomas scored nine points and added a team-high nine boards, Ashlee Mells netted seven points and recorded three rebounds and Kim Roberson netted nine points and grabbed eight boards. Lydia Serfling and Whitney Lindsay also got on the board with two points each.
The Hoosiers will travel to Treviso, Italy, on Thursday, May 21, and will take on Sernavimar Marghera on Thursday night. Marghera is also apart of the Italian A-2 league.
