IU Women's Basketball Helps Out at Bloomington Shalom Center
May 21, 2008
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Stephanie Siler, Director of IU Women's Basketball Operations, continued the program's effort in giving back to the Bloomington community when she spent time volunteering at the Bloomington Shalom Community Center.
Siler helped the Shalom Center staff prepare lunch on Friday, May 16. This was the program's seventh trip to the center.
The Shalom Community Center is a safe daytime resource center for those who are experiencing homelessness and poverty. The center helps guests get in contact with more than 18 social service agencies and provide in-house programs to people to improve prospects for self-sufficiency. The center also provides a variety of services, including breakfast and lunch daily, laundry facilities, art and writing groups, a small library and clothing.
