Indiana guard Cyndi Valentin is in Puerto Rico going through training camp with the Puerto Rican National Team as it prepares for qualifying rounds of the FIBA Americas Qualifying Tournament this summer.

While in Puerto Rico, the 2004 Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection is keeping a diary for iuhoosiers.com. Following is her third entry:

"We have been practicing every day. They made the final cuts to get the roster to 12 people. We have just been focused on conditioning, running and going over plays."

"We just got our shoes for the tournament, and we'll get our uniforms soon. The uniforms are like a spandex, one-piece. I am sure they will be different, but from what I hear, they'll be comfortable."

"I have a roommate now. Asimina Fuentes played at a small school in Chicago. She played both volleyball and basketball there. She graduated four years ago and has played professionally in Puerto Rico and for the Puerto Rico National Team. She is really nice. We get along well. She is part Puerto Rican, part Greek."

"We actually have today (Thursday, June 10) off and fly to Cuba tomorrow. We stop in the Dominican Republic and pick up the Virgin Islands team and then head on to Cuba. The first round of the tournament is pool play, and the teams in our pool are Bahamas, Trinidad/Tobago, Puerto Rico and Cuba."

"Things were hard at first because of the language barrier. The first few days, I would listen and try and get acquainted. Now, everyone has learned to communicate more, and it is more fun."
