DeMuth & Gathing Lead All-Stars (6-15-04)
June 15, 2004
BLOOMINGTON, Ind.-- Indiana's Jenny DeMuth (15 points) and Jamie Gathing (11 points) each scored in double figures as the 2004 Big Ten Women's Basketball Foreign Tour Team cruised past the Logan Thunder, 114-57, to claim its third-consecutive win on Tuesday in Australia.
DeMuth also dished out three assists and grabbed one rebound during Tuesday's action and is now sixth on the team with 7.7 ppg and third in rebounding with 5.7 rpg.
Gathing, who is coming off a knee injury that kept her from participating this past season, pulled down five rebounds to bring her tour rebounding average to 5.0, which puts her fourth on the team overall.
Under the guidance of Indiana coach Kathi Bennett, the All-Stars' win marked the largest point total (114) and the second largest margin of victory (57) in the 12-year history of the Tour. The previous bests (113, 90) were set during the 1995 Tour in Japan when the All-Stars defeated the Yokosuka Lady Hawks, 113-23.
The All-Stars will look to complete an undefeated trip on Wednesday against the Southern District Spartans. The game will be played at 6 p.m. local time.
