BT All-Stars Finish Tour Undefeated (6-16-04)

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.--The Big Ten All-Stars, under the guidance of Indiana's Kathi Bennett, completed an undefeated 2004 Big Ten Women's Basketball Foreign Tour by dowing the Southern District Spartans, 75-64 to finish with a perfect 4-0 record.
Junior Jenny DeMuth led the way with a team-high 14 points, while pulling down three rebounds. DeMuth finished the tour averaging 9.3 ppg and 5.0 rpg. Both of these averages rank fourth on the All-Star squad.
Senior Jamie Gathing pitched in with four points and three rebounds in the All-Star's final victory. Gathing finished her tour career with 5.3 ppg and 4.5 rpg. These averages ranked sixth and fifth, respectively among her teammates.
The 11-point victory over the Spartans was the closest battle the All-Stars faced throughout the tour. The squad finished the tour with a four-game margin of victory average of 30.8 points per game.
At halftime, the All-Stars only held a slight 40-36 advantage over the Spartans, but the All-Stars outscored the Spartans 35-28 in the second half to help them cruise to their second consecutive undefeated Tour. The Big Ten All-Star team was also undefeated in 2002 when they went 5-0.
Since the inception of the tour in 1992, the Big Ten Foreign Tour squad has gone 46-18. The summer trip has been held annually except for 2003.
The All-Stars are expected to return to home early Thursday evening.
