IU Women's Basketball Hosts Successful Elite and Team Summer Camps
June 17, 2008
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's basketball team continued a successful summer camp season with its Elite Camp and Team Shootout on the IU campus June 10-15.
IU's Elite Camp was designed for advanced players who aspire to play basketball at the highest level. Campers received position specific skill instruction from Indiana head coach Felisha Legette-Jack and other collegiate coaches. Hoosier head men's basketball coach Tom Crean also addressed the campers in between sessions.
The Team Shootout featured junior high, junior varsity, varsity and AAU teams from around the country. Teams were placed in pools according to skill level and then guaranteed at least seven games against appropriate opponents as well as an automatic berth in the camp tournament.
The Hoosiers will wrap up the camp season with the Fundamental Camp on June 20-22. This camp is designed to develop fundamental basketball skills and teach the dynamics of teamwork and sportsmanship. Camp will be divided into groups based on age and skill level. Campers will receive individual skill instruction in a fun yet competitive environment.
