BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Former Indiana women's basketball standouts Sarah McKay and Cyndi Valentin have been able to successfully continue their playing careers at the professional level overseas and are preparing to help their respective national teams vie for a spot among the world's best.

McKay, a 6-7 center from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, was recruited by Team Great Britain in hopes of qualifying for the 2012 Olympics in London. Her father, Mike, is a former Sunderland center who represented England. If Britain qualifies in 2012, McKay will be the tallest woman ever to represent the country in the Olympics.

Valentin, a 5-8 guard from Bloomington, is currently in San Juan, Puerto Rico preparing to help the national team compete in the FIBA Centrobasket Championship Games in Morovis, Puerto Rico July 17-21. The championship will be the qualifier for the World Games. After spending a season playing Spain, Valentin has signed to play with the Romanian D1 League next season. Beginning in October, she will play for Targoviste.
