Hoosiers to Play in 2008 Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana head women's basketball coach Felisha Legette-Jack and the Hoosiers will host Ball State on Friday, Nov. 14, in the first round of the 2008 Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).
IU leads the all-time series with the Cardinals, 26-3, after winning the previous meeting between the two schools, 76-71, in Muncie on Nov. 17, 2007.
"We are very excited to host Ball State in the first round of the Preseason WNIT," Legette-Jack said. "There are a lot great teams in this year's bracket and we are thrilled to participate and look forward to the competition."
The Hoosier's invitation to the preseason event marks the first since the 1998-99 season when IU went 2-2 with a wins over Cincinnati (Nov. 13; 61-51) and Missouri State (Nov. 15; 63-60), before falling to Rutgers in the third round, 60-53, on Nov. 19. The Hoosiers then lost to Florida in the consolation game, 72-67, on Nov. 20.
This year's tournament format matches that of 2007 as each team is guaranteed to play three games. Teams that lose in the first two rounds will play consolation games on the second weekend, Nov. 21-23. The bracket also features Arizona State, Cleveland State, Illinois State, Lafayette, Liberty, Middle Tennessee State, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Robert Morris, Tulane, UC Riverside, Virginia Commonwealth, Western Carolina and Xavier.
