BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Former Hoosier guard Kim Roberson signed a five-year contract to play for Samsung Life Bichumi in South Korea.
Bichumi finished second in the Women's Korean Basketball League last season with a 23-17 record. The team is currently practicing in Yongin, South Korea. Roberson and Bichumi open the 2009-10 season on Oct. 10.
"I could not be more proud of Kim Roberson for going to her mother's native South Korea to play professional basketball," said IU head coach Felisha Legette-Jack. "She's not only one of the toughest players I've ever had the pleasure of coaching, but also one of the smartest, and she's going to have an excellent career. What an amazing opportunity this is for her. We wish her the absolute best."
Roberson ended her career at Indiana with 990 points, 418 rebounds, 259 steals and 228 assists. She owns IU's all-time career steals record and ranks third in the IU single-season record book with 89 steals in 2008-09. During her senior campaign, Roberson averaged 10.1 points, 4.4 boards and 2.8 steals per game. A native of Indianapolis, Ind. (Cathedral), she was named to the Big Ten All-Defensive Team for a second year in a row and led the 2009 Big Ten Tournament with 6.0 steals per contest.
