Indiana guard Cyndi Valentin is back on the road again with the Puerto Rican National team. This time the Bloomington, Ind., native and her teammates are headed to Guatemala City, Guatemala to take part in the second round of the CBC Championships.

A month ago Valentin and the Puerto Rican national team spent a few weeks in Puerto Rico for the first round of the CBC Championships. Puerto Rico, along with Cuba, Jamaica and Barbados, all advanced to the second round, which will take place July 21-22
While traveling with the Puerto Rican National team, the 2004 Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection is keeping a diary for iuhoosiers.com. Following is fifth entry of the trip:

My teammates and I all flew in from different places on Saturday, but all met up in Miami around the same time. We didn't do anything Saturday night because it was pretty late, but on Sunday we got up and had a three-hour practice. It was mostly conditioning and running through the plays. Later on we had another practice at 7:00 p.m. At that practice we went over a lot of defensive things. By the end of the night we were all really tired.

Yesterday we drove four hours from Miami to Orlando, where we will be for three days before heading back to Miami. On the way down we stopped at the mall because some of the girls had to buy new basketball shoes. We had practice and that was pretty much it for the day. We hung out in the hotel and caught up a little.

It was good to see all of my teammates. There are two new girls that joined the team from the United States, so it is nice to have people that speak fluent English on the team with me.

Tonight we have a scrimmage. I am not really sure who it is against, but it will be good to get out on the court again with my teammates. We have two more scrimmages while we are down here and then go back to Miami and leave for Guatemala. I am excited to go there, it should be an interesting trip. I am not really sure how it will compare to Puerto Rico.
