Legette-Jack Adds Kristiana Stauere to the 2010-11 Roster
Aug. 26, 2010
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana head women's basketball coach Felisha Legette-Jack has announced the addition of Kristiana Stauere to the 2010-11 roster.
"We're really excited to have Kristiana join our Hoosier family," said Legette-Jack. "We have really addressed the need for more post players on our roster over the last two years and now we have multiple players that stand at least 6-2 and taller. We think Kristiana joining the great group of talented post players that we already have will really help the development of our guard play a lot more. With the strength down low, our opponents will not be able to help and I believe we have a tremendous backcourt this season. We're very happy with the addition of Kristiana."
The 6-4 center, a native of Riga, Latvia (Riga State Gymnasium No. 1), averaged 13.7 points and 11.3 rebounds per game for her club team, RTU/Merks, in 2009-10. She was also member of Latvia's U-18 national team, where she registered 5.4 points and 2.3 boards over nine games. She tallied highs 12 points and three blocked shots against Poland and 10 points and four rebounds against the Czech Republic. Stauere also sank 52.2 percent (12-of-23) from the field.
For Latvia's U-16 national team, Stauere averaged 6.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.2 blocked shots per game over six games. She grabbed double-digit rebounds against Turkey (13) and Serbia (10) and scored 11 points against Germany to go along with seven blocked shots.
Stauere joins Simone Deloach (Round Rock, Texas/Round Rock), Alisha Goodwin (Belleville, Ill./Althoff Catholic/Jefferson College), Andrea Newbauer (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Concordia) and Milika Taufa (Lahaina, Hawai'i/Lahainaluna) to the 2010-11 class of newcomers.
