Felisha Legette-Jack and David Jack Host Gala Benefit for Bloomington Museum
Aug. 30, 2010
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana head women's basketball coach Felisha Legette-Jack, along with her husband David Jack, will serve as the hosts of Science Night Out: Sail the High Seas, a gala evening to benefit Bloomington's WonderLab Museum of Science, Health and Technology.
Science Night Out takes place on Friday, Sept. 10, at the Bloomington/Monroe County Convention Center. This year, the benefit also is a celebration of the 15th anniversary of the children's science museum. Previous Science Night Out hosts include Indiana University's President Michael McRobbie and First Lady Laurie Burns McRobbie, and also IU head men's basketball coach Tom Crean and Joani Crean.
The evening entertainment begins with a cocktail reception featuring swashbuckling pirates, live sea creatures, silent auction tables overflowing with treasures, and cash bar. A feast worthy of the captain's table and a dockside live auction follow. Live auction highlights include:
A dinner with Coach Jack and Coach Crean for the ultimate Hoosier fan A behind-the-scenes extraordinary elephant art adventure at the Indianapolis Zoo A deluxe Conseco Fieldhouse corporate suite for an Indiana Pacers game A private skating party with the Bleeding Heartland Rollergirls A cruise through the Virgin Islands for six aboard a fully equipped and staffed private catamaran
Other auction items include handcrafted artwork, spa treatments, a Costa Rican vacation and other getaway packages, restaurant certificates, theater tickets, and more.
The purpose of Science Night Out is to raise $145,000 to help augment the museum's earned revenues and make it possible for WonderLab to continue to offer its full complement of educational programs. WonderLab provides hands-on science experiences for more than 80,000 visitors each year and is the only Indiana science museum to be ranked among the top 25 in the country by Parents Magazine. WonderLab's impact also can be seen in its outreach and after-school programs, as well as its professional development program for teachers. The museum is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. It was established in 1995 through a grassroots effort in the Bloomington community.
Science Night Out tickets are $95 per ticket ($55 is tax-deductible) or $760 for a table of eight ($440 is tax-deductible). Tickets/table order forms are available online at wonderlab.org or by contacting Heidi Frankson, WonderLab development director, at 812-337-1337 ext. 14 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
