Sept. 1, 2008
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Members of the IU women's basketball team represented Indiana Athletics and signed autographs at Midnight Madness at the Bloomington Wal-Mart on Friday, Aug. 29.
The event, which ran from 10 p.m.-2 a.m., began 11 years ago to deter students from illegal drinking. The first year, 400 students attended, while the Wal-Mart staff estimated nearly 4,000 students attended the event in 2007. This year, Wal-Mart hosted many activities including demonstrations with campus clubs, a Rock Band and Guitar Hero tournament, Riley's Children's Hospital "Pie in the Eye" with IU Dean of Students Richard McKaig and live music.
The Hoosiers open preseason workouts on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
