Bloomington, Ind. - Indiana's 2003-04 women's basketball schedule is set.

The Hoosiers open the season at home, hosting the Indiana Classic at Assembly Hall, where they square off against Cornell in the season opener at 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 22. Also in the Classic field are Indiana State and North Texas. The consolation and championship will be played the next day.

Following the Classic, the Hoosiers head to St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands to take part in the Virgin Islands Paradise Jam from November 28-29. Once there, Indiana will face Mississippi State, then either Virginia Tech or Iowa State.

Also dotting the non-conference slate are road tilts against Virginia Commonwealth, Georgetown, North Carolina State and Ball State, and home contests against Maine, Arkansas and Western Illinois.

Of the Hoosiers non-conference opponents, three participated in the NCAA Tournament last year (Mississippi State, Virginia Tech and Arkansas), while an additional five competed in the WNIT (Indiana State, Georgetown, Maine, Western Illinois and Ball State).

"The schedule will be very challenging for us and should prepare us well for the Big Ten," Head Coach Kathi Bennett said. "We'll be able to find out where we're at very early on."

The Big Ten slate kicks off on January 2, when the Hoosiers head to the Breslin Center in East Lansing to battle Michigan State at 7 p.m., before coming back on January 8 for their Big Ten home opener against Wisconsin at 7 p.m.

Arch rival Purdue comes to Assembly Hall on Sunday, January 25 at 2 p.m. with Titan Series points and the Barn Burner Trophy at stake.

Big Ten teams appearing only once on the schedule are the Boilermakers, Minnesota, Ohio State and Penn State.
