Freshman Nicole Bell Named One of IU's Athletics Scholar-Athletes of the Month
Sept. 25, 2012
Bell, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, averaged 22.5 points, 5.6 assists and 4.6 steals per game, while leading Indian Hill High School to a fourth consecutive conference championship in 2011-12.
"Nicole started her IU career, by earning a 4.0 this summer," said academic advisor Lorian Price. "She is currently maintaining all A's this semester as well. She plans to attend nursing school and become a nurse upon graduation from IU."
Stack, a native of Oak Lawn, Ill., was a four-year state qualifier and a medalist in the 100-yard backstroke as a junior. He was the first-ever boys swimming state medalist from Metea Valley.
"Michael not only has been able to start off his academic career balancing his academic and athletic requirements, but in his limited free time he has been able to start up his own investment club that already has 30-35 members," said academic advisor Mike Greene. "In my four years here I don't know if I have met a first semester freshman who was so willing and able to take so much on their plate and to balance it so seamlessly. I have no doubt that if the first month of his tenure is any indication of what we should expect for his remaining time at IU, this will just be the first of many accolades coming Michael's way."
