BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana men's and women's basketball teams tip off the 2006-07 season with a nationally-televised broadcast of Hoosier Hysteria on Friday, Oct. 13 at Assembly Hall. IU is one of three programs that ESPNU will feature live throughout the evening.
The Assembly Hall doors will open at 9 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for $2 each (cash only) or a donation of two non-perishable food items for the Hoosier Hills Food Bank and go on sale at the IU Athletics Ticket Office the day of the event at 8 a.m. All seats for the event are general admission. Proceeds will benefit the Indiana University Student Association (IUSA).
"Hoosier Hysteria is a perfect name, because IU fans are passionate about this university and its basketball program," Sampson said. "Our job is to match this passion and competitiveness on the court this season."
"The first day of practice is one of the best days of the year," Legette-Jack said. "Our players have worked extremely hard through the summer and preseason conditioning, and we cannot wait to get the season started."
Hoosier Hysteria activities include an autograph session with members of the
men's and women's teams, performances by the IU Cheerleaders and fan
contests for big prizes. Sampson and Legette-Jack will each address the
crowd, and the first public practice of the season will include dunk and
sharp shooting accuracy contests.
