BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - On Friday, Oct. 16, the Indiana women's basketball team will officially begin the 2009-10 season with the department's annual Hoosier Hysteria in Assembly Hall. Admission is one canned food item with the proceeds benefitting the Hoosier Hills Food Bank.

"Our season officially begins with Hoosier Hysteria and what a better way for our basketball family to celebrate this new year than with a packed Assembly Hall," said Indiana head coach Felisha Legette-Jack. "We are always excited about this night. It's a great way to show off our 12 amazing players and our great coaching staff, and share who we are with our community."

Following the IU volleyball match against Iowa at 5:30 p.m. ET, the Hoosiers will take the floor at approximately 7:45 p.m. for drills following an autograph session at 6:30 p.m. (no outside items will be signed). The IU men's basketball team will take the floor at 8:30 p.m.

Legette-Jack and the Hoosiers tied the school record with 21 wins last season after making their third straight trip to the postseason. Indiana returns eight players to a team that is highlighted by co-captains senior Jamie Braun and junior Jori Davis. A 2009 All-Big Ten honoree, Braun averaged nearly 13 points, five rebounds and four assists per game in her junior campaign. Davis, one of the most exciting players to watch in the Big Ten, returns after registering nearly 12 points and four rebounds per game a year ago.

Indiana is set to play a pair of exhibition home games on Nov. 1 vs. Lambuth (2 p.m.) and Nov. 5 vs. Grand Valley State (7 p.m.), before opening the home slate on Sunday, Nov. 15 against IUPUI at 2 p.m. in Assembly Hall.
