Legette-Jack To Serve As A Co-Chair For The First Annual Salvation Army Kettle Kickoff Celebration
Oct. 22, 2007
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana head women's basketball coach Felisha Legette-Jack has been selected to serve as a co-chair for the first annual Salvation Army Kettle Kickoff Celebration.
Legette-Jack will serve as a co-chair with Jacobs School of Music Professor and Grammy Award-winner Sylvia McNair.
This inaugural fundraising event on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the Bloomington/Monroe County Convention Center will promote the opening of the Bell-Ringing Season. Twelve two-person teams called "Ringleaders" will compete to collect the most money during the seven minute "Dash for Cash" in The Great Room of the Convention Center.
All funds raised at the Celebration will be used for Christmas food baskets, meals, toys and other assistance for those in need in our community at Christmas time and throughout the year.
"I was thrilled and humbled to be invited to serve as an Honorary Co-Chair with Sylvia," Legette-Jack said. "I am in awe of the wonderful and important work that our Salvation Army Corps performs on a daily basis. The Kickoff Celebration is the perfect way to get everyone into the holiday spirit of making sure those red kettles are always full."
The Master of Ceremonies for the luncheon is Indiana University Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, Dick McKaig. He will be joined by Salvation Army Captain Elmer Gamble for a short presentation about Salvation Army activities in the community.
The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m. Tables of eight may be purchased for $100 and single seating is available for $15. For more information about the Kettle Kickoff Celebration and to reserve a table, please contact the Salvation Army office at (812)-336-4310, ext.10.
