IU Athletics Lends Career Advice to Students
Oct. 24, 2007
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Assistant Director of Athletics for External Operations Frank Cuervo and Assistant Women's Basketball Coach Jose Mori took time out of their busy schedules to participate in the Kinesiology Career Panel, hosted by the IU Kinesiology Club at the Student Recreational Sport Center on Tuesday, Oct. 23.
Cuervo and Mori were joined by Andrea Cole from Toyota/Gibson General Hospital in Princeton, Ind., and Abigail Conner from Pro Sports Club in Bellevue, Wa.
Cuervo spoke about the administration side of athletics, while Mori concentrated on the coaching aspects in front of a group of approximately 30 students.
"College athletics is the best high-profile promotional tool that a university can have," Cuervo said. "Every Saturday, we have the opportunity to catch the eye of millions of people and make a great impression. In that sense, your department of athletics is the `front porch' of the university."
"A big part in being successful in your career is what you're willing to do to gain that success," Mori said. "Just do a great job where ever you are, whether you are an intern, a CEO or an assistant and you will be successful."
