    WOMEN WIN FINAL EXHIBITION

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana's women's basketball team used its final tune-up exhibition game of the season in good fashion, downing the touring Eos Malbas (Sweden) team 86-68 Thursday evening in Assembly Hall.

The Hoosiers used a strong inside-outside game to hold off the perimeter shooting of the Swedish squad. Eos Malbas connected on 10 3-pointers, making 53 percent of their shots from behind the arc.

Four players scored in double figures for the Hoosiers led by sophomore Jill Chapman's 21 points. Chapman also collected 13 rebounds in just 26 minutes of play.

Freshman Erika Christenson used her strength inside to contribute 18 points on 8-14 shooting from the field. Freshman teammate Jill Hartman netted 12 points while Kay Morgan added 10. Junior college transfer Rainey Alting dished out seven assists to go along with five steals, eight points and six rebounds.

As a team, Indiana shot 44 from the field and out rebounded the Swedish team 46-38. Indiana also tallied 26 assists to 19 turnovers.

"This was our last dress rehearsal and I saw a lot of positive things out on the court tonight," said Jim Izard. "As many new players as we have I really am pleased at how they are coming along."

The Hoosiers begin the regular season Friday, Nov. 19 against Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, Ky.
