"In Aulani, we're getting a great in-state player that exemplifies character, academics and basketball," Legette-Jack said. "As one of the top five scorers and rebounders in the state last year, we expect her to make an immediate impact with the program in our effort to pursue championships."
Sasha Bernard, a 5-6 point guard, earned Honorable Mention All-State honors as a junior at Delray Beach Atlantic High School from the Florida Sports Writers Association. She averaged 17 points, eight assists and eight rebounds per game as a junior. She also tallied six steals per contest earning first team all-county honors. Bernard was named the 2008 Boca Raton News Player of the Year after leading Atlantic to the regional finals, while shooting 58 percent from the 3-point line for the season. She helped lead Atlantic to a 25-2 record and a district title.
Bernard, a native of Delray Beach, Fla., was also named the Palm Beach County Girls Flag Football Player of the Year after leading Atlantic to a 12-3 record in 2007 and a final No. 8 ranking in the state.
"In Sasha, we are getting a dynamic, get you out of your seat point guard who is going to help us raise banners," Legette-Jack added. "Her speed will allow us to take our fast break to new heights. We are very excited about her joining our Hoosier family."
