Indiana wraps up Preseason WNIT action on Saturday, Nov. 22 when they face Middle Tennessee State in the consolation round of the tournament at 8 p.m. ET in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

The Hoosiers (1-1) opened the preseason event with an 84-68 win over Ball State on IU's season opener on Friday, Nov. 14. In Indiana's second WNIT match-up, the Hoosiers fell in a hard-fought battle to No. 22 Xavier, 62-59, in Assembly Hall on Sunday, Nov. 16. The Blue Raiders (1-1) fell on the road in the second round of the Preseason WNIT to No. 2 Oklahoma, 85-65, on Wednesday night to set up Saturday's contest. IU leads the all-time series 2-1, winning their last meeting, 66-63, in Assembly Hall on March 14, 2001 in the postseason WNIT.

Indiana's invitation to the preseason event marks the first since the 1998-99 season when the Hoosiers went 2-2 with wins over Cincinnati (Nov. 13; 61-51) and Missouri State (Nov. 15; 63-60), before falling to Rutgers in the third round, 60-53, on Nov. 19. The Hoosiers then lost to Florida in the consolation game, 72-67, on Nov. 20.

Senior All-America candidate Whitney Thomas recorded her 23rd career double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds, but the Indiana women's basketball team fell in a close battle to No. 22 Xavier, 62-59, in the second round of the Preseason WNIT.

Thomas also recorded two blocked shots and two assists. Sophomore Jori Davis led the Hoosiers (1-1) with 13 points, senior Amber Jackson added 12 points and sophomore Whitney Lindsay scored 10 points and added two assists and two steals in the effort.

The Hoosiers dominated the boards, 40-35, and committed just eight turnovers to the Musketeer's 13. IU shot 35.7 percent (20-of-56) from the field, 38.5 percent (5-of-13) from the 3-point line and 66.7 percent (14-of-21) from the free throw line.

IU head coach Felisha Legette-Jack is in her third year at the helm of the Hoosier program with a career mark of 92-93 over seven seasons. She led the Hoosiers to the back-to-back postseason berths in the WNIT and an 18-15 mark in 2007-08. Legette-Jack is just eight wins from reaching her 100th career victory, and two wins shy of her 40th as the Hoosier mentor.

Rick Insell is in his fourth year as the head coach at Middle Tennessee State with an overall record of 73-28.

    • Saturday's meeting marks the fourth between the Hoosiers and Blue Raiders.
    • Saturday will also be the Hoosiers first of five consecutive games on the road.
    • The last time IU met MTSU was the 2001 postseason WNIT.
    • In Sunday's game, Whitney Thomas collected her 23rd career double-double.
Felisha Legette-Jack recorded her 92nd career win as a head coach and her 38th at the helm of the Hoosier program on Nov. 14.

The Hoosiers defeated Middle Tennessee State, 66-63 in the first round of the 2001 Postseason WNIT on March 14. IU was led by Rainey Alting's 15 points while Jill Champman scored 11 and had seven boards.

The Blue Raiders shot 40.4 (23-of-57) percent from the field, 18.2 (2-of-11) percent from the 3-point line and 78.9 (15-of-19) from the free throw line. The Hoosiers sank 40.7 (24-of-59) from the floor, 42.9 (9-of-21) from the 3-point line and 69.2 (3-of-13) from the free throw line. IU outrebounded MTSU, 39-34.

The Indiana women's basketball team is 16-15 in road openers since the 1977-78 season. Since Coach Jack's arrival, the Hoosiers have gone 2-0 with wins over Kentucky (11/12/06; 54-51) and Ball State (11/17/07; 76-71).
