    Bloomington, Ind.-- The Indiana University women's basketball team jumped out to a 9-0 lead and never looked back in defeating visiting East Carolina 83-67 in the championship game of the IU/Full-O-Pep Classic. "I was very pleased with our overall effort...we came out and played with intensity on both ends of the court from the start," said IU Head Coach Jim Izard. Indiana evens its record to 2-2, while ECU drops to 1-3.

    Tournament Most Valuable Player Heather Cassady started the game by draining two three-point buckets en route to scoring 20 for the night. Cassady also sank 10-13 free throws, including seven in the final two minutes to keep the Lady Pirates at bay. Freshman Jill Hartman tallied career-highs in points (23) and rebounds (15) to net her first "double-double."

    In the evening's first game, IUPUI (3-1) broke open a 59-55 lead with a 19-0 run in the final four minutes to win 78-55 over Stetson (2-2). IUPUI's Jennifer Stucker led all scorers with 18, while Eboni Long and Cher Dyson led Stetston with 16 each.
