BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's basketball team will wrap up a three-game road trip when they face IPFW in the finale of the Hoopla "Celebrating Women's Basketball" showcase, hosted by the Mastodons on Sunday, Dec. 10. The Hoopla showcase opens with a contest between Ball State and Valparaiso at 1 p.m.

The Hoosiers (7-2) are coming of an 82-47 loss at Bowling Green on Dec. 6. Junior Nikki Smith and freshman Shanice Billington led Indiana as each scored nine points in the defeat. Sophomore Whitney Thomas posted a game-high 13 rebounds, 11 of which came on the defensive end.

Indiana has held its opponents to less than 40.0 percent shooting from the field in six of its nine games. Hoosier foes are currently averaging 35.3 percent (187-of-530) from the field. Indiana is averaging 71.0 points per game and is shooting 44.8 percent (233-of-520) from the field on the season.

The successful start by the Hoosiers has been noticed by the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Coaches polls as IU has been receiving votes in both polls. This week, the Hoosiers have 27 votes in the AP poll and 25 in the coaches' poll.

IPFW is coming off a 59-50 win at IUPUI on Dec. 5, where three players scored in double-digits. Johnna Carlisle-Lewis led the Mastodons with 18 points and 10 rebounds. She shot 7-of-12 from the field, including four 3-pointers. She was followed by Ashley Johnson with 11 points and Juliane Hohne with 10 points off the bench.
