Indiana Women's Basketball Boasts Team GPA Over 3.0 for Fall Semester
Dec. 30, 2008
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's basketball team recorded a team grade point average (GPA) over 3.0 for the fall semester.
The Hoosiers boasted eight players with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Seniors Amber Jackson and Lydia Serfling, along with sophomores Haylie Linn and Andrea McGuirt achieved a GPA of 3.5 or better on the semester.
"I'm proud of the team for their dedication and hard work this semester, it required an entire team effort and that is exactly what took place," said Kimya Massey, Assistant Athletics Director for Academic Services. "Although we had a strong semester, we will continue to raise the bar academically and strive for even higher levels of achievement. Success on and off the court requires character and this team has great character. We look forward to an even stronger spring semester with this outstanding group of young women."
"I'm so proud of these young ladies," said IU head coach Felisha Legette-Jack. "They are a special group of student-athletes who strive for success on and off the court. With our C.A.B. program - Character, Academics and Basketball - we will always do all that we can to be our best in each of those categories and I think this team has grasped that challenge. I am very happy with what they have accomplished thus far."
The Hoosiers return to action on Sunday, Jan. 4 when they host the Iowa Hawkeyes in Assembly Hall. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network and on WHCC 105.1 FM in Bloomington.
